Gear Up Guys India Is Hosting Robocon 2014!!
Recently the theme was published related to the robocon 2014 which was named as "A SALUTE TO PARENTHOOD". Robocon 2014 would be based in Pune, India most probably MIT at 24 th of August. The theme is based on parenthood which explains the making of 2 robots including one manual, one autonomous which is like a humanoid . To decide who is representing india in international event at Pune on 24th August 2014 ,Doordarshan and MIT AOE is organizing the National Robocon -2014 on 6th to 8th March 2014. Being the host Country, India will be allowed to represent two field two teams, that is, the Winner of the National Contest as well as its First Runner-up . It would be named as India 1 and India 2.
They together perform different tasks with it, the manual robot has to lift the humanoid ,place him on the sea-saw , lift the sea-saw from the other side three times , then place him to the poles where humanoid crossed the four poles and then place him on the swing and swing him three times noting that the leg of humanoid is to touched the flag placed on the other side at the third time , and then place him to the jungle gym where humanoid climbs the stairs and shows a flag written "shabbash" for the completion of the round. New drawings were updated in the official site a day before with white lines outside the child zone.
According to the viewers the theme of this year is bit creepy . Robocon introduced a humanoid for the first time in this competition. Wish the guys best of luck .

The Asia-Pacific Robot Contest popularly named as ABU Robocon is an Asian international College robot
competition, founded in 2002 by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union. In the
competition robots compete to complete a task within a given period of time. The contest aims to create
friendship among young people with similar interests who will lead their
countries in the 21st century, as well as to help in advance engineering and
broadcasting technologies in the region and this aims the students to earn
practical knowledge. The event is broadcast in many countries through ABU member
broadcasters and other carriers.
Each year the competition has different topics based on theme of the hosting country. Every year a country hosts the international event and the them is based on that country's decisions , mostly the theme is based on the the countries origin and its history or may be its culture.
But generally two or
more robots must be used to complete the tasks. The best robots usually which
wins weights more than 10kg and span in one square meter area.The specifications of the bot are also given with the theme and rule book. To build the
robots, contestants are restricted to be undergraduate students, must
possess rich knowledge in programming, mechanical design and electronic circuit
design and a an talented and innovative mind along with an super intelligent guiding faculty .

ABU Robocon 2013

The ABU Robocon 2013 is going to be held in Vietnam. The
Theme for Robocon 2013 is "The
Green Planet. The winning team is from japan and the name of university is Kanazawa Institute of Technology.
The team which represented India was from MIT,pune. The results of indian round of robocon can be seen from here.

ABU Robocon 2012
The ABU Robocon 2012 was held in Hong Kong on 19th August
2012 where 17 Engineering teams from 16 different countries or regions participated.
The Theme for Robocon 2012 declared by Hong Kong was Peng On Dai Gat which meant In Pursuit of Peace and
Prosperity. The winner of the Robocon 2012 is University of Electronic Science
and Technology of China.
The ABU Robocon 2011 was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 28th
August 2011 where 19 Engineering Colleges from 18 different countries participated. The Theme
for Robocon 2011 declared by Thailand was Loy Krathong which meant Lighting Happiness with Friendship. The winner
was Dhurakij Pundit University coming
from Thailand.
The ABU Robocon 2010 was held in Cairo, Egypt on 22nd
September 2010 where 18 Engineering Colleges from 17 different countries
participated. The Theme for Robocon 2010 declared by Egypt which was
Robo-Pharaohs Build Pyramids. It was won by University of Electronic Science
and Technology of China to give China its 4th win in robocon which leaded China
to hold the record for the most number of wins.
The ABU Robocon 2009 was held in Tokyo, Japan on 22nd August
2009 with the Theme of Kago,travel together for victory drums. The traditional
Japanese palanquin, carried by human beings which was replaced by robots in
competition. The winners were a team from China who completed the task
consistently in just 18 seconds. It was won by Harbin Institute of Technology
to give China its which china its third successive win.
ABU ROBOCON 2008
The ABU Robocon 2008 was held at Maharashtra Institute of
Technology (MIT), Pune, India on 31st August 2008, where 17 Engineering
Colleges from 16 different countries participated. The Theme for Robocon 2008 declared
by India was Govinda, based on the traditional Indian stories of their lord Krishna
who used to stole “makhan” (butter) from
the heads of gopies.
